No-IP.info and DNS question
Hi there, I'm trying to do something different from the norm here, so please forgive me. I have a Windows 2003 Standard Edition Server which is the DNS server for my domain. Orphaned GC-records in DNS
Hi group. If a Windows 2003 domain controller is NOT a global catalog in its Windows 2003 domain (there are other GC-enabled DCs), is it right that there are still its SRV- and A-records in: mydomain.local (SRV-record at port 3268); gc._msdcs.mydomain.local (A-record); gc._msdcs.mydomain.local (SRV-record at port 3268); Default-First-Site-Name._sites.gc._msdcs.mydomain.local (SRV-reco...

AD 2003 DNS issue: multiple hosts, same IP
Hello, I am not sure if I am not doing good housekeeping or if I am doing something wrong. Somehow, as computers come and go in the domain, their DNS records stay (WINS is correct). All machines are configured to register their connection into DNS and as result I have stuff that looks like this: DNS: CAR-08 Host(A) 10.0.21.85 (wrong) CAR-10 Host(A) 10.0.21.85 (wrong - mac...

DNS for DC using RRAS IP
I have a bigger issue in that I am unable to use "Check Name" when setting up a new Outlook Exchange account. When I go onto the Exchange box and ping the DC by name it is coming up as a RRAS Internal IP and not it's static assigned IP. Would this be a cause of a lot of issues? Or is this by design being my DC is also the Routing and Remote Access server?...

DNS Resolution - Stub or Delegation

The structure is :- example.com DNS servers are two W2K3 DC's and two W2K DC's. subdom1.example.com DN...

when one DNS DC down can't get to internal web sites
Trying to determine what the issue could be. Have a single domain with 2 DC's, one a W2k svr, the other a W2k3 svr. Both are DNS. When the W2k DC server is down for updates/upgrade etc. cannot get to our internal web sites from domain clients. The internal web sites are hosted in the same domain on a 3rd W2k3 svr running IIS6. I'm thinking this has something to do with DNS but I'm...
