Cluster server fails over when replistor service is stopped
I am running Windows 2003 Server Enterprise Edition in a clustered
environment (MS Cluster Administrator v5.2 (Build 3790.1830). There are two
physical servers in the cluster and they connect to three cx300 disk storage
devices on which we are holding 2 Terabytes of data. The “Live†cluster
server also connects to a remote server using a product called Replistor
which allow us to re...

Clustered File Server questions
Hello all, we have successfully configured a 2 node cluster that uses
a PhysicalDisk and File Share resource. When you initiate the Move
Group command, it successfully picks up on the other node. It's
working great.
I have tried to copy a file to the File Share and initiated a Move
Group command in the middle of the copy and got an error with "No
network path is no longer available" .. h...

W2k3x64 Cluster: Admin tool gets disconnected when moving ressourc
Hi!
I'm currently in the process of setting up a new 2 node file/print cluster.
Hardware are 2 HP Blades connected to a IBM SAN, OS is W2k3 x64 SP2.
When I'm connected to node 2 using the cluster admin tool and moving the
cluster group to node 1, the admin tool hangs and after some time, I'll get
the error box saying "Cluster <name> is no longer available. However, the
ressourc...

Setup a cluster with desktop PCs??
I am an MSDN developer and would like to setup and configure a basic 2-node
cluster environment but don't have access to full blown servers or SAN
hardware. I do have at my disposal several new desktop PCs (Dual Pentium 4
3.2Ghz with 1GB RAM).
Is there any way I can take, for example, 3 of those PCs, configure one to
"act" like a SAN device, setup a 2-node cluster with the other two us...

How does NLB really work?
I would like to use NLB with a web farm I currently maintain. My
question is how does the NLB service decide which server to place each
client or request. My understanding of IIS6 is that each request made
by a client is treated a new request and not an extension of the
previous request.
Basically if i search through the browser everyone who lives in "Los
Angeles" and if i get 15 pages o...

Two nodes cluster and boot delay
Hi,
Microsoft recommends increase or decrease the Time to Display list of
operating systems setting on one of the nodes to prevent nodes from
attaching Quorum resource at the same time after rebooting.
But, if there is only one operating system on the server this recommendation
didn't work. Should I install Recovery Console or there are other ways to
accomplish this?

Trying to set up an NLB cluster...
Good morning,
I have 2 compaq DL 380 G4 servers both running Win 2003 R2 and IIS 6. I
want to Cluster them with NLB, but I am running into difficulties.
Both of the servers are running dual NIC's with teaming. On one of the
servers I can get the NLB set up without any problems, even on the
team.
The other server does not take the same settings. Am I missing
something?
The Cluster IP is a ...

Cluster SAN disk timeout value
SAN admins in my company are telling me that to do online firmware
updates of the SAN all the nodes connected have to have the following
registry value:
HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\Disk\TimeOutValue = 60
By default all systems have a value of 60. According our SAN admin
when you install clustering, it changes the nodes of the cluster to a
value of 20. There asking about chan...

Using diskpart on clustered file server with shadow copy enabled
Hi there,
In the past I have used diskpart>extend to to expand luns on a
clustered file server with no issue. I am preparing to do this again
this weekend. The only difference this time is I now have shadow copy
(which goes to a seperate lun) enabled on this volume.
Will doing the diskpart>extend with shadow copy enabled screw with
the disk? Should I disable shadow copy before ...

Win2003 X64 and SQL2005 X64 Cluster using EMC
Greetings,
We have been having some trouble with our EMC SAN Storage and our
SQL2005 Cluster. In particular, it appears we have been causing the
EMC SP's to "panic" and crash. Of course, this could be a bug in EMC's
FlareOS or we could be misconfigured.
However, the ISCSI setup is pretty easy and we have had EMC verify
the clients config and the Storage Groups on the EMC CX300i.

We have an Exchange 2003 cluster on 2003 Server SP1 at current. We us a DR

of the things this does though is remove the "Register this connections
address in DNS" for the NIC TCP/IP properties, advanced, DNS. There is
reason for this which I won't go into ...

Printmig Restore: Cluster to Stand-alone
I have an active-active 2-node Win2k3 print cluster. Roughly 150
queues per side. Need to replicate those queues to a stand-alone
server in an isolated test environment. I've been utilizing the
printmig utility, which takes great backups, and I've restored those
queues to another cluster in the past, but I'm having no luck
restoring them to a stand-alone Win2k3 server. Just says no driver...

Exchange 2007 CCR / FSW questions
Hello all,
We are in the planning stages for rolling out Exchange 2007, and I am
focusing heavily on High Availability scenarios. CCR looks like our most
feasible option for the Mailbox server. Having never done any Windows
clustering, I have a few questions about how the File Share Witness works.
I have read that the FSW will decide which node is the active one in the

Upgrading W2K TermServ Cluster to W2K3 Ent. Ed.: two questions
