Fluctuating wireless signal from router
My laptop has a built-in wireless adapter (Intel PRO 3945ABG), so no external antenna is
present. There are no nearby networks, at least they are not reported by Network
Stumbler.
Shall I buy a USB dongle ? If so, will I have to disable the wireless card ? Is it
convenient ?
Thanks,
Mike

Uneven router signal
I am using Network Stumbler to monitor the signal levels of my Netgear router.
While it is understandable that the level drops every time I position myself between the
router and my laptop ( average signal value is -58dBm, at a distance of approx. 30
feet ), I cannot explain why, all conditions being equal, sometimes the level drops down
by a good 10 o 15 dBm, with sudden dips and then re...

I have a new HP Pavillion DV 6000 with XP and with wireless builtin.
I have an older tower running 98 (I think SE)
I want to network them, with a wireless component for the laptop.
The research that I have done suggests that if I can find a wireless router
that will accept Ethernet input, then I can simply ethernet cable t...

Limited or no connectivity...
Hi,
I'm having a lot of trouble with my wireless connection on my new laptop
(I'm a Mac person!)
Until about a week ago, I only used my laptop to connect to the internet at
home. My home wireless network is unsecured, and I didn't have to do anything
special to configure the wireless settings (it just worked when I clicked
"connect".)
However, about a week ago both my PC desktop compute...

Also will the clients be prevented from connecting to their home or hot spot

What happened?
My wireless connection worked fine 3 days ago. The other night I came home
from work, and it was all haywire. I managed to get my two desktops (both
manually connected to the modem, so there's an obvious guaranteed connection)
working, but my laptop (Pavillion dv6k) is having problems. The laptop
notices the wireless connection, but they won't make a connection to the
internet. The Wirel...

Configuring ADSL connection in Windows 2000
I have windows 2000. I have bought a wi-fi router and a wireless USB stick.
How do I configure the USB stick connection? It senses the wi-fi router but
it does not connect. It is normal because I need to provide my userid
password for connecting to my ADSL provider. But the usb key config nowhere
gives me this possibility.
Are there any standard stuff that I can download to configu...

Is it a router or a computer problem?
My computer keep on getting a 169 address when trying to connect wirelessly
to a WPA-PSK and WEP enabled network. Not only is my computer but the rest
of the wirelessly connected computers. I'm on an internal wireless, while
two other laptops are using a NIC. When using an ethernet cable to connect
the laptops to the router they work, so it's only a wireless problem.
