Remove hidden device error message
I tried to install a Netgear wpn111 wireless USB adapter. The installation
failed. I ran the Netgear uninstallation routine and tried to re-install the
wpn111. XP will not detect the device. I called Netgear - no help. I
noticed that the adapter still appears in the device manager as a hidden
device. When I try to remove it using the device manager, I get the error
message: "Failed...

Wireless internet browsing - what else do I need?
Hi,
I have a laptop with a wireless card installed. At the moment, I use my
ethernet connection for broadband internet use. My modem is not a wireless
modem. Do I have to get a wireless modem to enable wireless internet use? Or
is it possible to get a wireless adaptor to plug into my modems usb port?
Thanks
Rob

Wireless networking question
Hey everybody,
I have never hooked up a wireless network before and I am running into
a problem. Laptops are hooking up fine; however, I have a PC and have
gotten a wireless PCI card from SMC. My problem is, in the
instructions that come with it it says that I may need my original,
licenced Windows CD in order to install the wireless card. I no

Sunspots, Aliens, or a Broken Router
Hi all,
I have an HP Desktop (M7900Y running MCE Rollup 2, all up to date), an HP
Laptop (MCE also), an XBox 360, and an older HP Extender. The desktop
connects to a WRT54G router via cable, and the other devices connect
wirelessly. As of this past Friday at around 7:00 PM they were all working
fine (my wife watched a recorded TV Show via the 360 and I was on the
laptop). At 9:00 PM, no...

Limiting Access Points that a Client Can Connect to
Is there any practical way to limit which access points that a Windows
XP machine can connect to? I would like to ensure that my children

neighbors. I know that there is an option in the Windows XP wireless
config to only connect to preferred access points, but it would be
quite easy to bypass by unchecking or just adding the d...

Can't connect to the Internet
I have a wireless peer-to-peer network. It was working fine until recently.
PC2 connects wirelessly fine to PC1, but now PC2 cannot open any web page. I
tried turning off the firewall in both PCs to no avail. I even tried
restoring PC2 to an earlier check point.
Both PCs are running Windows XP SP2.
I'm not very techy. Can anyone suggest what might be the problem?...
