Quest for knowledge
I'm looking for overview types of information about wireless networks. In
simple terms how the router and clients become part of the network. I have
a simple wireless network. TP running WinXP, Buffalo router connected to
DSL, Buffalo PCMCIA wireless adapter, Linksys Music Bridge.
The documentation that came with these products leaves something to be
desired about how to connect them...

Wireless Connection
Hello,
I have a Dell Inspiron 8600 laptop running Windows XP SP2. The PC uses both
an internal NIC card as well as an internal wireless lan card. When I switch
from NICK to wireless, I disable the NICK connection and enable the wireless
connection. The same thing goes when switching from wireless to NICK. Is
this method really necessary? Or is there an easier way to switch
connections...

Livebox and Sound Blaster Wireless Music
I have the misfortune to have an Orange Livebox. Used to have an ADSL/Router
which caused no problems. Anyhow, I also have Sound Blaster Wireless Music
(SBWM) which used to work fine with my router. It has, to date, proved
impossible to configure the Livebox to accept and recognise SBWM. If anyone
has had experience of this problem and knows how to solve it I'd be much
obliged.
I have...

Wireless connection issue: Ping stops after a few "Reply From" messages
Hi there,
I have a laptop and a PC with WLAN. I setup an adhoc network between
them and given static IPs to them (PC 192.168.2.1 and Laptop

message in the system tray.
Then I ping from PC to laptop. I see successful ping messages for a
few number of times (like 15-20 times) and then pings starts failing
saying "Request ...

I'm trying to help my boss migrate from one win XP laptop to another.
His old XP computer has an extensive list of 'wireless profiles' which
store the access keys/ap information for the many (~80-100) different
wireless networks he connects to in his travels. Is it possible to
copy this data to the new computer?

Oftentimes in a user provided machine environment (wifi hotspots and public

D-link DIR-655 and "n" NICs
Let me start a new thread, since the previous died some time ago.
I bought the router mentionned in the subject, and the NICs to go with
it, the DWA-547 (PCI) and DWA-645 (Cardbus).
This setup was to replace the DGL-4300 router and 108Mbps cards, but
alas performance was worse. At short range, the "n" setup works as
advertised, but as range increases, it becomes unusable, where the old...
