doesn't change to status "away" during inactivity
Hello
I'm using the newest version of live messenger (8.1) but I a little
problem. the messenger doesn't change to status "away" during inactivity
- I tried 2min. and 1min. Strange is, that Skype does!? Do they have
diffrent functions to determine inactivity?
Does anyobdy know this messenger problem? And could solve that?

Crashing after voice/video calls only
About 5 days ago or so I was chatting on messenger 8.1 and out of the blue it
crashed it actually changed a few things around.
1.) wouldnt read my headset any more (at least constantly)
2.) it made messenger crash after every call or video
Every time I would set all my stuff to read that my headset was the main
thing seonds later it would revert back to my sound card for no reason

The beta 8.5 leaked....
its on torrents now with dll's for english and french since the leaked one
is in spanish...
dont ask me on what torrent, cause I cant say.. hehe
the thing is that as Jonathan said.... its just a new bitmap... lol
Other than installing in another folder I dont see any other differences
than of course the theme.

Messanger turning off
I have tried almost everything that i can think of but my msn keeps login me
out. I any one has any suggestions on how to fix this please msn me at
cdamiani@shaw.ca. I should get the message I have been keeping a close eye on

Messenger Update Popup
After you login to Windows Live Messenger there is a popup advising you that
there is a newer version available.
Do you know how I can disable this prompt after I login?

Display pictures
Is there any certain order that windows live messenger arranges your display
pictures in in the folder?
When I click on one to add it to my list, go out of the folder and then go
back in to change it, the pictures are all in a different order then they
were when I added it in.
If anyone could help that would be great....

Can I always have web cam accepted on LAN?
I have Windows Live Messenger running on two computers at home on our LAN.
Is there a way to have the web cam enabled in WLM on one computer and
*always* accepted on the other computer?
The way it is right now, when I offer to show my web cam to a contact on my
LAN I have to wait for them to accept.

IM history
On May 22, Jason gave instructions for retaining message history. He said :
'To enable conversation history, click on “Tools – Options†in the main
window or any conversation window. Select the “Messages†item from the list
on the left." Problem is, when I open Windows Messenger, and click on
Options, there is no list on the left, and no "messages" menu to enable this.

Windows Live Messenger - Start up problem
Since two days ago, when I turn on my laptop and each time that I am trying
to execute the Windows Live Messenger, inmediatly I have been receiving an
message that tell the following: "Window live messenger had detected a
problem and it need to close" and a report of mistake is ready to

MSNBC Breaking News Alerts
Back in March, I stopped receiving MSNBC breaking news alerts over MSN
Messenger. This happened on both my Vista box and my XP box (which is
logged into a different MSN Messenger account). I have unsubscribed and the
subscribed again and it did not help. When I hit the bell icon, MSN
messenger, can tell me what alerts I have received, but it no longer tells
me that I have alerts waitin...

Corrupt password?
My son's password for Messenger seems to be corrupt, (he swears he didn't
change it). On every PC that the password is saved on he has the same
problem, it won't log him in because of a wrong password. The other problem
is that he's given his Hotmail address as the one to send the password
reminder to, but obviously he can't log in to retreive it! Also he's
forgotten the answer to his me...

Vista and live messenger download problems
I have downloaded live messenger but when I run it, I get a message that I
need to check if I have administrator permissions because it can not download
messenger sharing folders USN Journal Reader (usnjsvc).
I am the administrator, I just set up Vista and windows 2007. It is all
new.
After I cancel the set up a window comes up and says "code 1603" failed.

HELP: Messenger hangs about 15 seconds after launch everytime
I've been using Windows Live Messenger for a month with no issue on this new
laptop. (build 8.1.0178.00). 24 hours ago, it's started hanging every time
about 15-30 seconds after launch. I can login, see my contacts and usually
get one or two lines off to them before it hard hangs (even in mid sentence)
and I have to Kill the process to abort.

Can't Access my old Hotmail based messenger since I switch to MSN
Recently change my ISP to @msn.com. Previously I had used Messenger under a
Hotmail acct. Now when I log in to MSN Mail and try to login to my
@hotmail.com messenger acct, it automatically switches to my @msn.com login.
Initially my @hotmail acct login shows up. When I 'Sign In', it greys out
and load @MSN.Com
If I exit my MSN acct mail account, then I can log in to my @hotmail

LIVE MESSENGER 8.1 REFUSES to DO REMOTE SUPPORT-SAYS NEED UPGRADE

Allow messages to mobile device - greyed out
In Windows Live Messenger I have a Windows mobile account set up with Bell
Mobility. I have received the confirmation SMS message and replied, I can
log in to my Live account and my Live Mobile account.
People can not send message to me. In Tools - Options - Phone I can't check
of the box "Allow people on my contacts list to send messages to my mobile
device" because it is greyed out....

Unable to open links in conversation window
Hi,
Was wondering if any one can help me with this problem. I am unable to open
links sent via the conversation window. I have to cut and paste the link
manually in order to open the website.
Any else with this problem? I'm using version 8.1. Thanks!...

Application sharing not working
I have a PC at work, and two PCs at home with the latest versions of
everything Microsoft XP (SP2, MS patches/hotfixes). I downloaded and
installed Windows Messenger 5.1 and Live Messenger 8.1. When I try to
