Windows Vista WLM 8.5 Installation
I have run the installer both as an Administrator, and normally.
The box comes up saying 'Please wait while we prepare your computer for the
installation', or something like that anyway (The screen after clicking
Accept).
Sometimes it says 'Windows Live Wave 2 Suite' (I think) and then closes.
Other times it will just close.

8.5 WLM
Has anyone who has had the problem of no sound or audio with video present
with WLM 8.0 or 8.1 tried the 8.5 beta? Does this problem still exist for
you?
Has anyone else managed to solve this problem in an ACER laptop? Acer
doesn't want to acknowledge this happening, in my opinion.

Bug: Editing a contact's first/last name in WLM 8.5
I've installed Windows Live Messenger 8.5 beta on XP and Vista and they both
exhibit this bug.
When I click Contacts > View Contacts by > First and last name, some of my
contacts have their actual first/last names. Some don't. Some just have their
display name. In WLM 8.1, I could easily edit each contact and fill in their
correct names. In this WLM 8.5 beta, it appears to accept ...

Install woes
if you have install woes, where install disppears then reappears, do this:
1. install all automatic updates, restart (if no updates, you don't need to
restart)
2. start messenger
3. start installer
4. when it disappears, close messenger
5. have a cup of coffee and wait about 10 minutes. You can surf the web
this time. (try going to the messenger blog)

downloading 8.1
I can't download 8.1 (or any lower versions) with Win xp IE 6. I popup
window appears when I hit the download button but the window is tiny and
non-functionaing. If I try the manual download, the page comes up as
unavailabe. ANy ideas? Thanks. Michael...

Key Ports error in Windows Live Messenger network troubleshooter
Every time I tried to login to Windows Live Messenger, only to test it for my
daughter, (I don't care to use it myself!) I kept getting an error, and the
network troubleshooter kept on checking all the things were okay except for
"Key Ports", BUT it turned out that although the proxy line was ticked, it
must only have checked that it could be found on the network, not tat it was
logging ...

Help! I accidently.....
I like to have my messages saved, I accidently deleted the messagelog.xls and
now because of this my messages will no longer save, I go to my received
files then the folder with my user name and history, but now in the history
folder it's always empty! how can I restore this function back before my big
boneheaded move?!?...

How can i return back people I deleted but not blocked ?
I know that if I deleted someone from my list, and not blocked him, he still
can see me but I dont see him.

work under Windows Live Messenger 8.5 Beta any longer...If you wish to

Make file transfers appear in a fixed point of the window (ex. at the
bottom/top of the window). The main problem is that we need to use the
scrollbar every time to check if the file has arrived. It's a mess. File

File Trabsfers
Will Messenger have the feature to resume broken downloads in future? It must
be one of the features I've never understood why it hasn't been added. Yahoo
has had this since 1999 I think, and it's very helpful when you want to send
big files and then suddenly the connection drops...

Contact Status
Hope someone can give me an explanation here.
I have my contacts listed by status, online, mobile, offline.
Most of them, when they log out go immediately form online status to
offline. However, i have a couple of contacts that when they go offline,
they still appear online to me, even though i know they are not.
They will usually stay listed that way (online) until i close live mess...

BUG: Conversation window standard toolbar
Well, lets kick this off... While having a conversation window open, and you
use the menu to disable the standard toolbar... The menu button is gone...
However, pressing the alt key, brings up the menu again.

Problems with Windows Live 8.5
I was wondering if anyone can tell me how to fix this problem. I am using

Change Language of Windows Live Messenger
My sister-in-law has been visiting, and running Messenger. She lives
in France, logged onto my account (Windows XP SP2) and now Messenger's
UI is french. My French is not good enough for me to work out how to
change it back to UK English (which is my PC settings).
