Word (.doc) attachment opens Excel instead of Word
OE 6.0 -- When I click a Word (.doc) attachment and open, Excel opens
(instead of Word) and says it is not a valid file format. I have to save the
..doc and then open it. But if it is an Excel document, it opens correctly as
if Excel has become a default to open any attachment. Help, and I'm not a
computer whiz. Thanks....

Missing all messages
I received a Dr. Watson message when trying to switch identities today. The
message forced my system to lock up and I had to soft boot my system. Upon
return to the identity I switched from, that identity no longer had any
messages or folder in it.
I looked in the file system and it apprears that all the files are present.
Can anyone help me get everything back?

Emails suddenly stopped getting through!!
Help!
Suddenly my email stopped coming in on my main PC and getting this error
message below. Yet on my second PC with exactly the same account settings
the emails getting through. Tried removing account and creating new again,
tried restarting PC but still my main PC will not receive email.
Any thoughts?

Outlook Express Delete Problem
I can't delete two recently received email messages (from same computer).
Computer freezes and have to reboot. Ran sfc /scannow, no improvement. Have
been getting Stop Error on blue screen several times since these emails
arrived.
..dbx files are NOT read-only checked. Haven't gotten into regedit yet and
would rather not. AVG did locate 4 trojans "TIBS4" which were supposedly

Cannot add new identity
After much fussing trying to get my messages back, I created a new problem.
I cannot create a new identity. When it asks if I want to switch to the new
identity I'm trying to create, OE switches to the new identity, asks for the
approrpriate information, then hangs.
Any ideas?

Inbox File too large
All of the inbox messages disappeared from my wife's computer. The
Inbox.dbx file is there but it is about 2GB. I think this is the reason OE
won't it. I don't think she has deleted anything in 4 years! Is there any
way to open this file?

redirection
when I get an Email with for instance an highlited " www.countryflorist.net",
and I click on it nothing happens.
On my other computer with windows 98 everything I receive in an Email with
an highlited address can be clicked on and takes me to it.
This happens only in Outlook Express.

Attached messages don't open in OE
Hi
I briefly tried Mozilla Thunderbird before deciding to return to using
OE6 in XP. Now I have a peculiar problem. When I receive an email
message as an attachment inside another email message and I click on it
to open it, after the usual warning asking me if I wish to open it, it
opens in Thunderbird.
I have now uninstalled Thunderbird and deleted all its remaining

When I travel, I can go on the web, I can receive message on outlook

Junk mail is horrendous
I have been in this discussion group before regarding the same subject.
However, I really need to get some type of solution to the problem we are
having with junk mail. I posted before that I set my parents up with OE.
Just last week, they received 1500 pieces of junk mail. Now, that is totally

blocked senders by domains
With all the entries in my Blocked Senders list, certain locations show up
regularly (particularly certain countries). Since I know where I *won't* be
getting email from, I'd like to be able to block anything/everything from
such locales. When I previously posted this question I was advised to just
enter the domain, but when I put things like "ru", "ro" and so on into the
blocked senders...

Prevent messages from displaying in the preview pane
I would like to be able to right click messages (in order to delete them) to
keep them from opening in the preview pane. As soon as a message is right
clicked it opens for reading. Or is there another way to delete a message
without it opening. Thanks...

Delete messages without opening
Can you tell me how to delete a message without opening it. As soon as I
right click (to delete) the message it opens up in the preview pane. Also, I
would like to be able to send the message to be deleted directly to the

outlook express - blank message body and can't send messages
In Outlook Express I can't read any messages in the email body or the
preview pane - only as an attachment in 'plain text' mode. I'm using a
hotmail.co.uk email account.
Also, I can't send or reply to messages & get a "message has not completed
downloading" response.

Importing WAB with Folders intact...
I'm running XP Pro with OE6 and changed to a new CPU. I imported my WAB file
from a backup copy on my old hard drive to my new hard drive and all my
contacts came through but I lost all the folders I had created that grouped
my contacts such as "Friends", Family", etc.. I've made sure that
View/Folders & Groups is selected and I even ran wab /a from the Start/Run
prompt all to no avail...

Unable to create Outlook Express mail folders again.
In a previous post I described the problem of being unable to create mail
folders in Outelook Express. The advice was to create a new identity which
worked. I was able to create the mail folders I needed. It quit working
after two days and I can't create mail folders again. I did not import old
mail into the new folders. Any ideas?
