TURN OFF COPYING WHEN COMPACTING?
I use WinXP SP2 with IE7 and OE6. When I compact files in OE, 'backups' are
created in the Recycle Bin. But I always do a full backup of OE before I
compact -- so is there any way (eg, a Registry hack?) of turning off the
copying when compacting OE?

Hello. i created an new identity and changed it's location to I'll make up
a path righ tnow

How do I edit the registery to reflect that change instead of that long
number so it can import the rules in to the new identity? Thanks.

Moving WAB from one computer to another
On computer one, I used the Registry Hack below so that when my Outlook
Express opens the Address Book, my outlook contacts will be shared. Then I
copied the .wab file to computer 2. None of the addresses came along.
Now I actually expected that because computer one only shares the
contacts... the contacts are not actually in my computer's Address Book
(.wab file).

Missing email messages
After sending someone a message, and upon exiting OE, I received a dialogue
box that asked if I wanted to free up disk space by "compating" my message
files. I have seen and used this process before without any problems, so I
clicked OK.
While in the process of compacting, my computer shut down, but did not turn
off. I had to unplug it and start it up again. When it rebooted, and I

Lost all messages in Inbox
I have suddenly lost everything in my Outlook Express Inbox. I have all the
folders, and all the stuff in "Sent Items" and "Deleted Items," but the Inbox
should have a couple of hundred messages -- instead there are none. Where
would they be?...

Windows does not ask me for password
I have Outlook Express 6 set up to open with my identity, where a password is required.
When I open it for the first time, it actually does display the password window, but if I
close it and open it again then the program launches and no password is requested any
more. Not very pleasant, anybody could read my emails. :-(
Any clues ?

Embedded photos
I received an e-mail with photos embedded in the e-mail, not as attachments.
I right-clicked on the first photo and select "Save picture as..." and then I
get this pop-up: "The system cannot find the file specified". Any idea how
I can separate these photos from the e-mail and save them separately to as

I need some help in using Outlook efficiently. I want solution for my

updating newsgroups as well as emails
when the send/receive function operates in my outlook express, it
synchronises with the newsgroups I subscribe to as well as to my email
accounts. I'm using windows xp to access newsgroups in outlook express 6.
For some reason it's now taken to updating the email accounts only. How can

Attachments don't show up
I've got an issue where an email is sent to my wife and I at the same time
from the same email address. When I receive it, it has attachments on it and
they open fine. When she receives it there are no attachments at all. No
indication that they are blocked. No nothing. We're both on the same
computer with the save Norton 360 A/V. It only happens from certain email
