Reply toolbar disappeared
Helping a friend who is new to Outlook Express. He has WinXP and OE6. His
e-mail WAS working fine, but now both in Inbox view and if he double clicks
to open a message, the toolbar with Reply, etc., etc. has disappeared. I
thought perhaps it got pushed up into the File-Edit toolbar, but he says (on
the phone; I haven't seen it myself) that a double arrow with the cursor
won't let him ...

OE6 compacts on close always
Every time I close Outlook Express I am now getting this message: "To free
up disk space, Outlook Express can compact messages. This may take up to a
few minutes. OK or Cancel." This has happened after I compacted the OE
files two days ago in regular maintenance. I have compacted these files
before without this happening and am at a loss as to why this is occurring
and also how to get...

deleting auto correct
Hello
Does anyone know how to remove email addresses that have been remembered
automaticly for example when you click on new then you start typing in
someones email address and it automaticly picks it up how do you remove the
email address that it automaticly picks up? i know in regular outlook you can
delete the by pressing the delete key.

Problems opening attachments
Using windows xp home sp2 with IE7 and OE6. All was fine until someone
installed Mozilla Thunderbird on the PC. When we were attempting to open
attachments in OE they were always shown as thunderbird documents instead of
the regular Outlook Express eml file. We then uninstalled thunderbird hoping
that would fix the problem, but the attachments continue to be shown as
thuderbird docs....

cannot view restored files in oe6 xp sp2
I restored oe6 files from ghost to my oe6, but they have a different identity
number even though they should be the same identity, and when I click on the
file, it opens 0e6 but they are not viewable there. What can I do to view
them? thanks...

Spell Check Outlook Express and Picture It 10
Recently on a few occasions when I was using the Outlook Express Ver 6 "Spell
Check", a install come up for Microsoft Pricture It 10.
Had a look on the Internet and found a Microsoft page Fix for the earlier

Also in the last few days I noticed other computer users have entered the
same subject??
Now is there a fix for this lat...

backup storage folder
When I try to import from a backup storage folder, the folder is
imported but no messages are in the folder. The properties value shows
that the message folder do have some kbs. Suggestions?

Lost connection with Hotmail
I suddenly lost connection with my Hotmail account. I tried deleting the .pst
file -- no good. I deleted the HTTP account, tried the repair tool, rebooted
-- no good.
Digging deeper, the Hotmail account is linked somehow to a mysterious 'temp'
file in my TEMP folder -- which I keep clean. So now that it can't find its
temp file, Outlook keeps asking me to login to Hotmail, not accepting...

Read Receits
I have recently received an E-mail message back fom a company that I had
requested a "Read Receipt" from. The receipt that I received read "Your
message was deleted without being read." The company denies that they did
this and says that they read it in the preview window. That should have
generated a reply receipt that said "Your message has been displayed on the

Hi all
Just wanted to know if there is a free British/UK spellchecker for Outlook
Express available?
Does anyone out there know of one and where I can get hold of it, please?
As I have got Office 2007 installed on my PC, I have read on the Internet
that Office 2007 “breaks†the Spell check function in Outlook Express? - is
this correct?

OE6 will not start
Outlook Express will not start up. Keep getting message "Outlook express has
encountered a problem and needs to close"
Error report opens with the following :-
AppName: msimn.exe AppVer: 6.0.2900.2180 ModName: msls31.dll

Need I add an EMail answer is not practicable under this situation.

The language selected by the people who set up the noterboook PC I purchased
in the Options - Language tab is French .

Address Book Display
When I open my address book, it displays column (in order) as Name, Business
Phone, and Home Phone. I have almost none of my contacts listing business
phones, and nearly all listing home phones, which gets cut off in the small
Address Book Window. Is there a way either to order or suppress these
columns?

Suddenly can't logon to news server
I have been having problems in the last few days logging on to my ISP's news
server, I have been using it for years but on tuesday
I started getting error code 480 while trying to download new messages? my
ISP does not require a password and the seetings in OE

Attachment Problem
When I send a picture as an attachment it goes through normally EXCEPT,
there will ALSO be a large copy of the picture in the body of the message.

Blocking first level domains in OE inbox!
Hi. I am receiving a lot of spam email from hong kong domains (*.hk) which I
would like to block/filter out from my inbox. I use Outlook Express 6 for
Windows XP home but I don't know the exact procedure to follow so if anyone

need help setting up mail servers
I dont have an IPS. I use wireless signals that I pick up all around me. But
I would like to set up POP3 and SMTP mail servers so that I can send links,
pictures, etc. So how do I do this? I have gmail and yahoo accounts for
e-mail. Should I download Mozilla Thunderbird and forget about Outlook? ...
