Possible to Change One Font on One Website?
One website that I visit often has the following inline style scattered throughout its pages (example edited for brevity): [element] { font-family: "MS Sans Serif",Arial,Helvetica,FreeSans,sans-serif; } Unfortunately, I have a small high-resolution monitor that other users share, and to keep things legible for everyone I have Windows' display set to show fonts at 150% of normal size. (Con...

Avoiding "page cannot be displayed" with no cache on IE6
I want to avoid letting users use the back button on forms with multiple postbacks so I use Response.Cache.SetNoStore() for these pages. This works fine for IE7 and Firefox by showing the desired "this page is expired" message for those browsers. IE6 just shows a "the page cannot be displayed" error. Is there any way to avoid the error for IE6 and just show the page as expired when th...

premature "download complete"
I'm trying to do a "save target as" of a large file via dial up. The download dialog says the file is ~38MB. It always quits (dies?) early. The best I've gotten is 19MB. More often it's at most 2-3MB. The problem is, it doesn't let me restart/continue the download. What should I do? Please help! ...

Saving Files - wrong extension
I'm running XP SP2 clients in 2003 domain. Our intranet hosts a collection of files access using hyperlinks so users can 'Save Target As..' and save a copy in their work area. This works fine apart from certain file extensions (for third party software) such as .plf and .pwx - here, the Save As dialog box forces the save type to XML Document. These files do contain XML, but I want IE...

Shockwave Flash Object - slow loading of web pages in IE7 / Vista
Vista on many web pages (mostly those with ads) has delays loading (ie yahoo, ebay etc). There can be a 2 second delay before the web pages loads and becomes responsive. The individual web page cannot be pre-empted until it is finished (so navigation is disabled). Other web browsers can be opened so it is not an OS problem. When disabling Shockwave Flas Object add-on, it works normally. ...

Internet Explorer hangs
My home page is set to Yahoo and it loads fine when I open Internet Explorer from the Start Menu. However, when I try to go to any other site (including my favorites), IE hangs up and seems to cycle back and forth between trying to open the new site and revert Yahoo. I have noticed that 100% of my CPU is consumed during the time IE hangs. This problem appeared after I downloaded Adobe...

Hi, I am in a LAN environment and running XP SP 2 with IE 6. The problem is, whenever I type an address in the address bar and press Enter IE just sits there and doesn't do anything. The status of the web page during this wait is 'Done'. Then after 5-10 seconds the status changes to 'Opening page ......" and then just opening the page takes another few seconds. How can a humble user prevent this from happening? -- regards, |\ /| | \/ |@rk \../ \/o...
