Local accounts in GPO
I created a security baseline for servers in my domain. I want IIS to work so I follwed KB 812614 to add IIS_WPG and ASPNET access to the correct registry settings and folder locations. The problem is these local account permissions do not transfer to other machines. Is there a way to specify something like LOCALHOST\IIS_WPG so the GPO works on multiple servers? The business really w...

My Documents folder redirection to shared folder
Hi - in a W2003 / WinXP Pro environment, I've configured folder redirection for My Documents. This particular client wants it all redirected to the same shared folder, without individual subfolders for each user, even. This works fine, except there's all the usual stuff like "My Pictures" and "My Ebooks" and "My Adobe Crap" ...which is messy. Is there a way to prevent any such subfolder...

Possible to enforce LP over GP?
I was told once by a naysayer that GP was worthless as long as a domain user had local admin rights because they could get around any settings. Other than removing a computer from the domain, the only way I can think of that this might be possible is by setting a LP that is counter to the GP settings and somehow enforcing the LP. I haven't found anything to either confirm or deny that th...

Lockdown wallpaper, icons always reset
We are using XP here and recently locked down the wallpaper to just a blue background for our computers. The problem is that when we did that, if people move icons around and relogin, the policy seems to always move icons back to left side of the screen. So no users can save their icon positions on their desktop. Is this just side effect or is there a way around it?...

Now that we are being 'forced' into 64-bit Windows Server in order to support Exchange 2007, does anyone know if there will be a 64 bit GPMC (Group Policy Management Console) coming out soon?
