adding a trusted site
If you import a trusted site into your Domain Group policy from your local
internet settings does the import process also capture other settings or just
the trusted site that you added? All I want to do is add a trusted site. I
don't want to change other group policy settings....

Policymaker and "could not connect to kernel driver" when using polmon.exe
Hi Folks,
We use Policymaker to create custom policies for our W2003 server. Its
a great product and has recently been bought out by MS to include into
W2008 server (beta right now).
Question, when I run the utility (polmon.exe) to monitor what policies
are running I get this error "Could not connect to kernel driver.
Please ensure that the kernel driver is installed and running"
I kn...

Policymaker and future GPOs
I realize that Server 2008 is in Beta.
We use "Policymaker" heavily in our 2003 AD environment. Microsoft has
since purchased the "Desktop Standards" company and "Policymaker".
It is my understanding the "Policymaker" product will be wrapped into the
GPO for "Server 2008".
As we move toward "Server 2008": Should I begin reworking our use of
Policymaker? OR will our existing use of...

determine use of login script used in GP
We are using GP to apply a login script to different OU's in the org.
The problem I have now is that my login script (script.vbs) is
sprinkled throughout a bunch of different OU's. Is there an easy way
to determine which OU's and which GP's are having this script.vbs
applied to them? I really don't want to have to click through every
OU and check each GP within for the specific script.

User Rights Assignment causes WMI failure
I had to test this several times to be sure but it happened to me over and
over again:
On an XP Pro SP 2 client I verified that WMI was running fine. I could open
wmimgmt.msc and it displayed as normal.
I then configured a group policy with the following 2 User Rights
Assignments: 'Impersonate a client after authentication' and 'Create Global

Prevent a user GPO override a Computer GPO
My users get their IE proxy address set through a user GPO. When a user logs
onto a certain group of machines I want no proxy address ticked in IE, so I
have written a small script that removes the proxy settings and 'runs at user
log on' that is set in the computer GPO of those machines.
The trouble is the user seems to take precedence over (or runs after) the
machine GPO so the proxy ad...

logoff script that will explicitly remove the mappings.

result. I see an error within the test servers event log however which
