vbscript startup script not running
What security policy has changed that would stop a .vbs file from
being used as a startup script on a 200x server? One one server when I
try to run the script manually I get, "Windows cannot access the
specified device, path, or file. you may not have the appropriate
permissions to access the item." Other servers can manually run the
script but never seem to run them at startup even though rs...

Path in GPO
Hi all,
I have a batch file applied as a login script that maps network drives.
I added a set path="U:\UtilPath" line to the batch file in effort to
have a central repository of utilities (like ProcMon) always available.
It seemed to have worked the first couple of logins, but lately, the
environment variable has disappeared from the Path.
Any ideas on how I can implement adding a Pa...

Using pre-define GPOs across different environments
We support multiple customers and want to standardize our basic "usage
policy" GPOs across all customers. Is it possible to export GPOs setting from
one client so we can re-use them at another without re-entering everything
again?
I see a backup function from GPMC but the XML file it creates does not look
portable.
Thanks, John...

Denied Access in RSOP from GPMC
I can run RSOP from GPMC for local machine. If I try to run it for another
machine on our LAN, I get a denied access error.
I am also not allowed to re-run RSOP reports that i ran about 3 weeks ago.
We're using Server 2003 and all workstations are XP Pro.
I assume it is a security setting somewhere - but I haven't been able to
find it.
Thanks in advance

Where are PCL driver settings stored?
I have the ability to deploy TCP/IP printers in my domain via GPO, but so
far I can't centrally configure the driver settings. If I can find an .ini
file, .cfg file, or registry key where those settings are stored, I can find
a way to deploy the driver settings via GPO or script. I'm using PCL 5e
drivers for the TCP/IP printers in question. I need to configure the

applying hotfix KB824428 win2000 pro doesn't work
I have the problem defined in KB824428: I redirect the My Documents folder
for everyone to their home directories, but when I move their home
directories to a new server, the Win2000 (and some WinXP) clients don't
update, so users freak out because their My Documents folder is pointing to
an empty, old location.
I obtained the Hotfix for this KB, and it works on most XP clients, but not...

gets written to registry. Now if i log on the machine i cannot install a
