Turning off XP Firewall
Hello all,
I have been reading up on the group policy for turning off the XP firewall.
If I read it correctly, when on the Domain profile, it will turn the firewall
off if XP dectects that it is on the same network as the DC. If XP detects
that the DC is not on the same network it will turn the firewall on. Am I
correct in thinking this? Does the machine have to be rebooted for the chang...

Deploy printers without a Print Server?
I'm looking for a way to deploy IP printers (Standard TCP/IP port,
Locally, non-plug and play) to groups without having to build/create
a
Print Server and visit each user individually. Is this possible with
Group Policy? We are running a Windows Server 2003 SP1 Domain and
soon with some R2 SP2. Thanks

Hello
I enabled the screen saver on the DDP. Now , I have to reverse the setting
for some users ( service accounts) that do not function with the screen saver

have no impact , does anybody have any guidance on how to change the
behaviour to it's original format. Environment , W2k3 AD domain ,

Policies not acting the same on (supposedly) Twin terminal servers
We have two terminal servers that as far as I can tell are set up the same
everywhere in AD. Any idea why one would apply a policy I set up to lock
down the screen savers, and the other one would not.
They are both in our terminal server group, which is where the policy is
linked.
TS1 is aplying everything in the policy
TS2 says the user portion of the policy is empty.

Notepad 'removed' from startmenu (GPO)
Hi,
We have several GPO's and one of them is removing notepad from the start
menu. only normal users experience this.
I saved a GP Results report from a pc (for Dom. Admin and regeular user) as
html files so I could searched for "notepad", but without any results.
Does anyone has an idea how I can find the corresponding GPO which removes
notepad?

Policy behaviour when moving objects between OUs
I sometimes have people move departments, which means their computer and/or
user objects move to another OU to recieve the policy objects for that
department. Some of the policies are common to all departments, and some
are unique. I currently have a less-than-optimal GPO/OU structure, which
I'm currently working to remedy. In the meantime and as I transition, I'm

Windows Firewall Domain vs. Standard profile problem / Group Policy weirdness
I have an XP SP2 client that was within an OU which had firewall
policies defined. Those policies enabled the firewall with a list of

which has the firewall settings set to Not Configured. I also
manually deleted all exeptions from the list and confirmed that the
registry defines no AlowedApplications. I did all of this ...

I have a problem when accessing a computer through a network. The computer

Does this happen because of a group policy?

I would like to enable the XP firewall, but can;t due to the policy still
taking affect. I have ran gpresult and it say that the last policy applied
