Random shared folders are changing attributes
We have a Windows 2003 server with shares available to our users and about 6
months ago we started getting helpdesk tickets asking why folders where
"disappearing" from the folder structure.
Upon investigating it further in every case the folder is just marked with
the "hidden" and "system" attribute. We have to use the ATTRIB command to

We are currently setting up a new file server cluster in our organization.
One of the main purposes is for shared directories. Planned layout is
"servername\sharename\dept share". There could be a hundred folders for
different departments under the share and we want to map a drive for the
users to "servername\sharename". Groups are setup with the rights for each

Automating functions /Windows 2000
Hello,
I do a daily backup of a shared drive by dragging the shared folder to one
on a removable hard drive.
Is there a way to do backup (with a bat file?) to automatically reply to
questions about certain files asking me if want to override a previous
version etc. ... I keep a week's worth of backups on the hard drive and
overwrite the oldest file daily.
I was very familiar with...

DFSR Sharing Violations
I noticed a few sharing violations on three urls in my Favorites. These are
urls to three virtual servers and they keep getting updated (as is observed
in the time stamp) when the web page is open.
When I close IE, the urls stop being updated.
The problem is DFSR Diagnoistic Report continues to indicate sharing
violations on these three urls (and several other files). Also, new event ...

Hi,
I have a pretty strange problem that is causing me some headaches, and
causing a security scare at our place!! Wont go into details for obvious
reasons, but the end result is that I think that either there is some
automated process at work, or Windows 2003 is behaving in a very peculiar
mannar.
Here's the deal.....

Smartcard / NTFS Encryption

Im am still experimenting around. First I create an encrypted folder, then I

My broken MFT (chkdsk fails)
Hello,
The filetable of my data partition has become 'unstable', repairing it with
chkdsk works sometimes, but running it again a couple of minutes later just
turns up new errors.
Some context: I'm running Vista Bussiness (in Dutch so I don't know the
exact errormessages), with NTFS obviously. The harddrive is on a RAID
controller, so it doesn't get recognised by most DOS-utilities. ...

I am formatting a disk (on a SAN) through Disk Administrator.
