Does anyone else have a problem using WMDC, Vista, and CompanionLink to = synch their Pocket PC? I've gone through weeks of support hell with = CompanionLink and we can't get it to synch. As soon as the PocketPC is = put into the cradle, WMDC crashes with a WMDC Host Sync Error. I've = opened up ports in OneCare as described on Chris Herrara's website, I've = tried it with UAC on and off, and nothing works... The CompanionLink = guys are stumped too. I just saw this new forum and thought I'd try = here.

Thanks, I tried that first... It is probably a bug in CompanionLink but I thought I'd try here to see if someone else has experienced this.
In another posting on another forum, somewhere on the net, a guy said that the culprit was wmplayer.exe launching when you cradle the PPC. He could make WMDC not crash by killing the process in Task Manager but either my fingers are too slow or my PC is faster than his.
Thanks, Lon

It is not just CompanionLink, OneCare's firewall stops Vista' WMDC from = seeing a smartphone connected to the PC. You get the usual bong when = connecting to a USB port and the usual disconnect bong when you unplug = so the computer is seeing the phone, but WMDC is preventing sync = process. I turned off the firewall and the connection worked perfectly. = On the OneCare website forums there is detailed instruction of how to = get around this process by entering ports such in the the advanced = firewall settings. I followed the instructions but obviously did = something wrong because this approach didn't work for me. I will just = turn off the firewall when I need to sync I guess but here is hoping the = OneCare team is listening and will include a fix for this in a future = update.
