vista backup

I generally like Vista and Live Onecare but I hate the Vista backup. I would
like to selectively back up specific folders and files. I've had to resort
to an open source backup. Does anyone know if Microsoft intends on releasing
a decent backup utility for Vista?

Hello,
I don't understand,
it save all new files in C:\Users\Username\ per default
and you can add/remove filetypes and/or folders to this backup if you
choose "userdefined", what's the problem?

For backup I prefer to use Synctoy as well and as a beta tester of OneCare I
adviced the developers to have a serious look at that. But if you don't use
the backup function of OneCare, the button in the taskbar stays amber. How
do you cope with that?

I had the schedule to backup at 10am Saturday. Today the computer was turned
off at 10. Good news is after about 10 minutes or so of turning it on the
backup backed up automatically.

Open One Care and turn off backup, then the icon will return to green.
