System slowdowns with OneCare
"deebs" <deebs[ at ]notvalid.com> 30.06.2007 11:33:14
Has anyone noticed quite alarming system slowdowns when OneCare is active?

Symptoms include 50% to 100% CPU usage as determined in Windows Task
Manager.

Running on XP Pro SP2 and all recent updates.

1 - uninstalled OneCare

2 - observed that PFU at startup is some 100 MB less than when OC was
installed.

3 - observed that some applications that took quite a while to start
when OC was installed now start in less than 20 seconds with restarts
after closure of about 5 seconds.

3 - installed 30 day trial of NOD32 and the observations in #2 and #3
above hold.

4 - observed that CPU usage now sits at 0% again and that the computer
fairly whizzes along compared to when OC was installed.
