WLM slower then OE
"Regis St-Gelais" <meATmyhomeDOTcom> 12.07.2007 11:32:25
I gave a try to WLM last week and saw no real major improvements over OE.
Yes, it has a look more compatible with vista but thats almost it.

Anyway, thats not realy the reason of my post.
I can live with the vista look (even if I don't like it, but its a personal
taste and you know that the say about personal taste...)

I have been using EO for many years mainly because it is light (mutch
lighter than Outlook as least) and has all the features I need:
- Multiple email accounts
- Connect to hotmail (yes, I have a few old hotmail account that still work
with EO :o)
- News reader

The main downside I found about WLM is the speed.
I have a rather large number of emails stored localy on my computer and also
large news groups (news.palmos.com for exemple has more then 100 000 posts)
Just switching from one email folder to another one is rather slow (specialy
on laptops where the hard drives are slower)
Its probably related to the fact that the emails are stored as individual
files rather then grouped in databases.

The second downside is the space between folders in the left panel.
When you have many accounts and folders there, you always have to scroll
down the panel.
I don't see why there is that much space between each folders.

Just my 2 cents

Regis

Strange... maybe it's your system... WLM is extremely fast on my computer...
