Windows Live Mail & signing in
ark76 05.06.2007 10:23:01
I have a problem with the last beta of WLMail. I didnt check the Use live id
account at the installation process, and now everytime I open WLM, a blue
messagebox appears with no vista icon or text on it, then a windows
messagebox appears saying something like: (translating from Spanish) Please
wait while windows configures the new software. It ends and starts again, and
it goes on for at least eight times. At the end, WLM crashes. Is there any
way to reset my account so I can check the Use Live ID account or even going
to Tools--->options to try and change it? I can't get to options, I can't use
WLM at all.
Thnx

With all the issues you are having with the delayed sign-in and crashing, If
I were you I would uninstall and reinstall.

Hi Darrell and thnx
The problem is that uninstalling and then installing again doesnt solve the
prob. The first-time settings window doesnt appear again, maybe because
inside the registry there's a key or something that reminds WLM my account
settings, so everytime I uninstall and reinstall the same happens. I like
WLM, or at least the little I've seen of it, but I cant use it. I dont know
how to make a "clean" install.

First uninstall WLM from Add/Remove Programs in the Control Panel. Then
delete the following keys in the registry if you're comfortable with
deleting registry keys.

Start / Run / regedit / Enter

HKEY _Current _User/Software/Microsoft/Windows Live Mail. Right-click on
Windows Live Mail and select delete. Close the tree until you get back to
HKEY_Current_User.

HKEY_Local_Machine/Software/Microsoft/Windows Live Mail. Right-click on
Windows Live Mail and select delete. Close the tree until you get back to
HKEY_Local_Machine.

Go to File/ Exit to close out of the registry editor and restart your
system. Now reinstall WLM.

Hi again Darrell.
I tried what you said, but i have a question. I'm running WLM on Vista, so
there's Windows Mail installed. On regedit, Current User, I have Windows
Live, Windows Live Mail and Windows Mail. On Local Machine, only Windows Live
and Windows Mail, not Windows Live Mail. I didn't delete Windows Live or
Windows Mail so as not to make things bad. I'd appreciate if you could help
me about this.

On Current User, ONLY delete "Windows Live Mail". If "Windows Live Mail" is
not listed under Local Machine, don't worry about it. Come to think of it,
Before I uninstalled Windows Live Mail from Add/Remove Programs, Windows
Live Mail was listed under both Current User and Local Machine. After I
uninstalled Windows Live Mail from Add/Remove Programs, Windows Live Mail
was only listed under Current User.

That's exactly what happens to me, but it doesnt work. When I reboot and
install WLM again, it seems to take my previous info, cause I don't see the
first time messagebox where you have to fill in all the info

Open WLM/Tools/Options. Click on the Connection tab and under Windows Live
Sign in, click on "Change sign-in account".

Re: Windows Live Mail & signing in
ark76 05.06.2007 17:33:00
But the first problem of all is that I cant open WLM. Windows Live sign in
messagebox appears with no "Signing in" or any text on it. That must be cause
I forgot to check the Use Live in in first time wizard. Anyway, I think I'll
wait until the final version is released, i don't want to bother u any more
:) THNX

Windows Live Mail will not open at all when you click on the icon? The
first time I installed WLM, I did not put my sign in information in, I did
it after I opened WLM.

Re: Windows Live Mail & signing in

When I click on Windows Live Mail, a blue messagebox appears. I've seen some
screenshots where I can see the vista icon move (the circle) but it doesnt
appear on my messagebox. 5 seconds later, a typical windows box appears,
while the blue messagebox stays. The window says "please wait while windows
configures your new software" or something like that. Then this window closes
and another one opens, same window, it closes and another one opens. Then I
can see WLM screen, I can click some things but 5 seconds later it closes and
again the "windows is configuring....." window opens, closes, another one
opens and so on. Finally I can see a Messagebox that says that WLM doesnt
work, telling me to close the program. Really frustrating :)

There's some other issue you're having with the install of Windows Live
Mail. Hopefully, someone more knowledgeable of WLM can assist you further
than I can. Sorry I couldn't have been of more help.
