Automatically delete emails from GMail
"Gerson Levitz" <gerson_levitz[ at ]hotmail.com> 11.07.2007 06:33:15
I have configured my WLM to download my mail for my GMail account with the
following advanced settings:

Delivery --> Leave copy of message on server and Remove from server when
deleted from 'Deleted Items'.

The second option is not working, so even after I delete the emails and
delete the Deleted Items the email are still on GMail.

Thanks

Have you checked the Gmail options themselves?

On the Gmail web interface...

Settings > Forwarding and POP > POP Download >

2. When messages are accessed with POP >

Choose the archive or delete option.

Save changes.

I want my cake and to it too.

I want the e-mail only to be deleted from GMail when I delete the e-mail and
remove it from the Deleted Items folder in WLM.

But I guess this is not possible with GMail.

I don't know, but I doubt WLM would inform Gmail
of such housekeeping.

I'm curious about your need to delete mail from Gmail.
I've been using it for years and have used less than 10%
of the archive.

Having mail archived has saved me countless
times where I've been hasty in deleting POP mail.

Have you done a Send/Receive after deleting the Deleted Items? Only during
this process messages are deleted on the server in case of POP3 accounts
like GMail.
