Solution found: I uninstalled WLM and deleted/renamed the "Windows Live mail" directory. When i reinstalled WLM I was able to see my own posts on the newsgroups once more - thanks for your help anyway. I guess thi is a bug/design feature of the beta <g>

Hi, Julian.
[Quoted Text] > Is that what Microsoft CDO for Windows 2000 is?
Yes. It took a while for us to learn that CDO stands for "Collaborative Data Objects" - whatever THAT is! And the "for Windows 2000" just shows how out-of-date it is. :>(
Microsoft loves it. Newbies don't know any better. Most MVPs and other experienced users hate it and complain to MS constantly about it - but our complaints fall on deaf ears. :>(
Newbies can easily ask their questions by using the web-based interface. But MANY of them never figure out how to come back and find the responses. :>( So they post the same question again...and again...

All you have to look for is when you open the OP's mail Properties and on the General Tab besides the posters name is discussion.microsoft.com. That tells you immediately that is coming via the Web -- Peter

It means that you are posting through your browser instead of a newsreader. It is an awful way to post and it also makes it extremely hard for you as the poster to follow.
If you set up your newsreader to read posts and newsgroups you will see how much easier and better it is.
Are you using Windows Mail with Vista or do you have Outlook Express with XP

Even easier, I have a message rule that displays the subject header in blue letters when the originator contains [ at ]discussions.microsoft.com. I think I learned that trick from Julian.
