why Microsoft dosn't provide offline virus list supported in Live OneCare
instead of forcing users to connect to internet to check the virus details?

Microsoft does NOT have the mindset for being an anti virus company. However you find all
anti virus comapnies habve their respective libraries/ecyclopedias online.

Either I not understand the the question or the answer....
If you want to use ONLINE virus details you can use
http://onecare.live.com and/ or
http://www.microsoft.com/security/portal/

Show Virus details in "offline mode" too?
I am not sure, but what's the benefit for it?
It's possible that you get not the actual infos, and you should be
online for onecare or vista/XP updates (The OS and OneCare search each
day for updates), and I don't know how many virus can OneCare detect,
but for each of them a detailed offline description, that would be
alarge file and this large file must be updated too.

Btw. most of the other security programs do the same, you get the virus
details only online.

Does any other antivirus maker supply an offline list of all the viruses
they protect against?
