Two of the machines run Windows Vista Home and both have Intel Core Duo processors and 2GB of memory. Windows Live OneCare runs acceptable fast on both of these machines. The third machine is my wife's laptop which has an Intel Celeron 2.8 gHz. processor, 256 MB of memory and runs WindowsXP SP2 with all of the latest updates. My wifes laptop will boot from "off" to completely operational in 60 seconds prior to installing OneCare Live. After installing OneCare Live it takes 3.5 to 4 minutes before the machine is operational and most web pages render quite slowly. This machine has no other spyware, virus checker or third party firewalls installed. After I uninstalled Windows Live OneCare the machine returns to normal operational speeds. I have installed and uninstalled twice just to make sure it had installed correctly. The question: Is the 256 MB of installed RAM the main contributor to the slowness or is memory a big deal for this software. The machine basically has zero non Microsoft software installed and is used 100% of the time to browse the web using IE 7.0 and handle email via Microsoft Outlook 2003. Mike
