OE5 - Can't delete messages
"Guv Bob" <brotherdave[ at ]bigfootYEEEEEEEOW.com> 13.07.2007 02:58:31
Never had this problem before, but since re-installing Win2000, now I can't
delete postings in any newsgroups. The delete key has no effect at all --
but works with email and all other programs.

Anyone take a stab at how to fix this?

Thanks.

Bob

Upgrade to SP4 . You will like IE6 and OE6 much better. Hope that answers your above post also. Don't forget to go to Windows Update after

Thanks, I will eventually. But any idea why I can't delete postings? This
was never a problem in the past so I'm guessing there must be a setting
somewhere that got changed.

You may have a damaged identity especially if it is the default Main
Identity. File | Identity | Add New Identity. Create a new one and test it.
If all is well, you can import your messages and Address Book from the old
identity and delete it.

Thanks again Bruce. I decided to go ahead and 'up' grade to 2000 SP4 with
OE6, etc. and it solved the problem.

Your problem was that OE5 doesn't support directly deleting news posts.
There is a roundabout method for OE5, but hardly worth the bother.

OE6 does support the direct deleting of news posts.
