Hi, My DVD player is playing up - sometimes it reads Audio CD's and other times it just doesn't recognise there is a disk in the drive. It occasionally recognises a DVD movie but won't play it, but it never recognises a DVD-ROM (data DVD). I've tried various things:uninstalling DVD drive and restarting Windows to reinstall it, looking for latest drivers (already have latest available apparently), replacing IDE cable, playing around with master/slave options and connections to mother board, but all to no avail.
I have a CD R/W drive also installed and never had any problems with this whatsoever. Also have tried to replace DVD drive with another from a friend but this also doesn't work . Don't know if I'm just being unlucky and have 2 duff drives, or if there is something else that is wrong.
Any help/suggestions greatly appreciated...
Windows XP SP2 - latest updates installed AMD Duron 800MHz, 512MB RAM DVD player is Samsung SD-612B
