In the last 2 weeks, Synctoy 1.4 has slowed down tremendously on one of my computers.
I have a work laptop and a home laptop and I use synctoy 1.4 to synchronize a bunch of files between them. I have an external 60GB USB drive. Both laptops are running Windows XP Professional SP2 with all updates. I have the file structures setup exactly the same on both machines (c:\Data) and on the USB drive. The amount of memory in both machines is comparable 1GB (work) and 1.5GB (home). It used to run just as fast on both machines.
There is about 4GB of data that gets copied back and forth each time I run synctoy. Normally this takes about 5 minutes. In the last 2 weeks it has started taking over 20 minutes on the work laptop. I thought it had something to do with the drive on the work computer so I did a defrag on both the USB drive and on the work laptop. This didn't help. I ran a full scandisk check on the work laptop and this also didn't turn up any problems.
I think if it had something to do with the USB drive then I'd expect to see a slowdown on both laptops. Does anyone have any ideas?
Ashish, you have mentioned several times a newer version, do you have any estimate on when that might be released? Some of us are really struggling with some of the problems that we've reported. Thanks.
