office compatability update install through group policy
John 11.07.2007 22:02:01
We have been trying to apply the office compatability update through group
policy so we can easily push it out to all our computers, but when we resart
one of the machines it begins to look for the update and quickly stopps and
in event viewer we get the error "The assignment of application Compatibility
Pack for the 2007 Office system from policy Default failed. The error was :
The system cannot find the file specified." we have all the files extracted
from the compatability patch on a network share with the prober permissions
but still recive the error.

(It may be a stupid question) Just wonder did you use UNC path in creating
the assign application object?

Can you browse to the share and the file manually? What permissions did
you actually assign to the location of the file (both share and ntfs)?

cheers,
