lonely_2006 12.07.2007 18:40:00
Whenever I type ''msinfo32.exe'' on run and hit enter ''help and support''
page opens instead of ''system information''....can anyone help me to solve
this problem?
I am using windows xp.

Hi lonely -2006,

The problem you are describing is often attributable to a missing index.dat
file in the WINDOWS\pchealth\helpctr\OfflineCache folder. If you have access
to another computer running the same version of WINXP, and that computer is
not experiencing the same problem, copy the index.dat file from the
above-mentioned folder into the same folder on the "problem" computer using
whatever means is easiest for you (eg., network, floppy, USB drive, etc.)

You could email me (remove the "nospam" in my email address) requesting it,
and I'll attach and send it to you, or you could download it from Response #5
in this thread at TechSupportGuy's forum: http://forums.techguy.org/windows-nt-2000-xp/380596-solved-system-information-help-support.html
(I have downloaded the zipped file and ran a few AV/malware scans on it, all
report negative findings, but it's up to you whether you want to trust it or
not)
The zipped file contains the index.dat file and a readme file.

Another option would be to copy it from a friend/relative/coworker's computer.
