Running a Windows installation without an installation CD or a tried and proven recovery feature is not feasible. You should ask a friend to burn a copy of a Win2000 CD (which is legal), and at the same time make a record of your Product Code, using a product such as JellyBean (http://www.magicaljellybean.com/keyfinder.shtml).
