IE 32 bit error running vista ultimate 64
"Paul " <pkeller[ at ]optonline.net> 22.06.2007 00:28:28
Running 64 bit version of Vista Ultimate. The 64 bit browser works fine,
but whenever I use the 32 bit browser (necessary to view some sites) all of
a sudden I started getting the following message:

ieuser.exe - bad image
c:\\windows\syswow64\msfeeds.dll is either not designed torun on windows or
it contains an error

If I say ok to the error message the page continues to load and then the
message reappears, etc. etc.

Has anyone encountered and fixed this error.

Hello Paul,
Install the support tools from the CD
Use filever.exe and check the versions of the ieuser.exe and msfeeds.dll at
the locations listed below.
Report back what they are.
Does this file exist at this location c:\\windows\syswow64\msfeeds.dll?
Does ieuser.exe exist at c:\Program Files (x86)\Interenet Explorer\
Thanks,
Darrell Gorter[MSFT]

The files exist in those locations, however I could not locate the support
tool filever.exe to check the versions.

Hi Darrell,

There is no support.cab in the support folder on the Vista DVD. (I checked
full retail Ultimate x86 and x64, and Enterprise x64.)

The only item in the support folder on the Vista DVD is the GB and Unicode
converter.

"Jane C" <jellybean[ at ]NOSPAMxjgarage.org> 23.06.2007 04:51:05
Hi Paul,

The file version should be on the 'Details' tab via Properties.
msfeeds.dll here has File Version 7.0.6000.16386 dated 2/11/2006.
ieuser.exe has File version 6.0.6000.16473, with a date modified of
13/06/2007.

Ultimate x64 full retail.

What addons do you have in IE7 32 bit? Have you tried disabling them to see
if that cures the problem?

Hello Paul,
My mistake, you need to get the file from a previous version of WIndows
cds. You are correct Windows Vista doesn't have a support.cab file.
I need the filever output
Thanks,

Hello Jane,
You are correct, I was thinking of prior versions of Windows not Windows
VIsta which no longer has the support.cab file included with it.
Thanks,
Darrell Gorter[MSFT]

Re: IE 32 bit error running vista ultimate 64
Darrellg[ at ]online.microsoft.com ("Darrell Gorter[MSFT]") 23.06.2007 22:17:23
Hello Jane,
One of the reasons for using filever is that in addition to the version
information, it gives the platfrom of the file.
913111 How to use the Filever.exe tool to obtain specific information about
a file in Windows
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;EN-US;913111

The error message is indicative of a platform issue with the file, like we
are trying to load a 64-bit dll inside of 32-bit IE for example.

Thanks,
Darrell Gorter[MSFT]

Re: IE 32 bit error running vista ultimate 64
"Paul " <pkeller[ at ]optonline.net> 04.07.2007 17:45:26
Here are the results from running filever

C:\Program Files (x86)\Internet Explorer>filever ieuser.exe
--a-- W32i DLL ENU 6.0.6000.16473 shp 294,912 06-13-2007 ieuser.exe

C:\Users\Paul\Desktop>filever c:\windows\syswow64\msfeeds.dll
--a-- - - - - - 458,752 11-02-2006 msfeeds.dll

Any help in solving this issue would be appreciated.

Here are the results from running filever

C:\Program Files (x86)\Internet Explorer>filever ieuser.exe
--a-- W32i DLL ENU 6.0.6000.16473 shp 294,912 06-13-2007 ieuser.exe

C:\Users\Paul\Desktop>filever c:\windows\syswow64\msfeeds.dll
--a-- - - - - - 458,752 11-02-2006 msfeeds.dll

Any help in solving this issue would be appreciated.

Hello Paul,
Send me msfeeds.dll. I don't see the header for the platform so I am
wondering if that file was corrupted.
Remove the "online" from the email address.
Thanks,
