HELP!!! Deleted C: Drive, can i make D: drive default?
"sagelybat" <u35650[ at ]uwe> 07.07.2007 05:12:26
Hi,
New laptop had XP on D: drive, and Linux on the C: drive. There is also an E:
drive with XP Pro on it that I did not touch. Linux was giving me problems,
and I wanted it gone. I thought it was a simple partition issue, so I
deleted the Linux C: drive. Now, nothing will boot when computer is turned
on. What can I do to get the d: drive as my default running system?
eveything is saved on the D: drive that I need!

thx in advance, plz respond asap

Maybe ...
* Use a boot-up disk and go from there
* reinstall XP on the D: drive

Hopefully someone smarter will be along shortly.

I'd try to boot from your XP installation CD and select to enter recovery
console. From there change the Linux Master Boot Record with an XP one. I
believe the command you want is FIXMBR.

Good luck.

I got rid of the other partition as well; (I figured I could do no more harm,
right?) Then, it really was as simple as reinstalling from the OS cd! Thank
you both for your keen advice -- I appreciate it :)
