HELP!!!!
Theresa 04.07.2007 04:10:05
My husband downloaded an .exe file and now my computer is stuck in a boot
loop. I see the windows xp splash screen, but that is it. If I boot into
safe mode, I can see all the drivers load, but again, it just goes black
screen and reboots. I am currently in the recovery console, but don't know
what to do from here. Any suggestions would be truly appreciated.

Theresa, you could try a Repair Install. Check at Michael's site for more
info

Hi Theresa,

In the repair console at the dos prompt, If you type help or /? it should
list a set of commands that you can use. the one that may work for you is the
bootfix command.

I believe if you type bootfix it will attempt to fix the boot sector of the
installed os. if that doesnt work, when you start up with the install cd and
it asks you if you want to repair the install with the repair console or
install choose the install, it will see that you already have an installation
of windows and will ask again if you want to repair this installation. this
second chance to repair is not using the repair console but will go through
the installation process to repair the broken files.

Hope this helps,

Eracer
