crashed computer
BaltimoreJack 30.04.2007 18:18:01
I was wondering if someone could help me. My name is Jacob. My email is
bscreen613[ at ]juno.com.

Is this a virus? What can I do to rectify the situation?

When i turn on my computer i see the windows xp screen the the screen goes
black then blue with the following message:

we apologize for the inconvenience but windows didn't start successfully. A
recent hardware or software change might have caused this

stop: c0000218 {registry file failure}

the registry cannot load the hive (file):

\systemRoot\system32\config\SOFTWARE or its log or alternate.

Could have been a virus.
Could have been a bad sector on the hard disk drive.
Could be bad memory.
Could be bad luck.
