Error message after video card upgrade
robwknapp[ at ]hotmail.com 11.07.2007 19:53:47
I recently upgraded an Osprey 440 video card driver on a Windoes 2K3
server and now am receiving an error: Insufficient system resources
exist for requested service - 0x800705aa. No coding changes were made
to my application that runs the encoding for the attached devices.

Scenario: I have audio and video coming in from 4 different rooms to
the server running a custom application developed using the WME
SDK(ver.9) that lets me select a .wme template file and ready it for
encoding. The first time I select a .wme file the preview shows the
live feed to my room just fine. The next time I select a .wme file
the error is produced. No other changes were made to the server.
Server has 1GB memory and dual GB+ processors. I have Googled
everything under the sun to resolve or find some kind of path to
follow with no results. Any help would greatly be appreciated.

I've seen a range of differing reports for that error message across a
wide range of application types (WHS, ASP.NET, SQL server, capture
cards etc), these are some examples, which almost certainly don't
apply to you, but indicates the range of problem types

800-prefixed errors are generally OS level errors, which can relate to
networking, memory management

I'd try the Osprey card in another PC - especially since you don't
really *want* to run encoding and server OS on the same PC - any
hardware incompatibilities or driver issues can destabilise your
expensive server hardware and OS licens ;-)

Aren't those drivers certified to work only on XP?

To be honest I am not sure. Also, I haven't read anything or come
across anything that indicates XP only. The application has been
running fine for a little over a year until the driver upgrade was
implemented. When I roll the new drivers back on the server the error
is not produced. I currently have an incident open with Viewcast on
the issue. If I am able to get some concrete details from them I will
gladly post to this thread.
