FLV and wmv embedded video
"General Mailbox" <nospam[ at ]pls.net> 23.06.2007 00:32:17
Greetings.
From my recollection of more than a year ago, I understand that most
computers are defaulting to having an activeX control disabled that played
an embedded .wmv file delivered within e-mails. I've used Outlook Express
for years. Also I haven't embedded videos for years and now that I look at
it again, there's now a .flv file extension. I am interested in making it
easy for my e-mail recipients to view my videos by having the appropriate
media player show up in their e-mail much as websites do when visiting their
pages. It's getting harder for my aging mother and aunt to remember how to
open an attachment to e-mail and play it. Please inform me the html code to
place in the e-mail, or to my personal webspace, that would cause a player
to display and play the video (.wmv if still able, and .flv).

The recipients are using AOL and Yahoo, however I have arranged them to use
OE if needed.

Thank you for your reply.
B.rgds,
Kevin

P.S. I use XP pro, aunt uses XP pro, mother XP media ctr. In remote
sessions, I can see them when they ask for assistance, but neither can
connect with me when I ask for remote assistance. Pls advise me proper
newsgroup to post this at. Tks.

Unlike wmv, you need not only activex, but also player applet, to
embed flv. It is swf file with script in it to load and show flv. See,
for example of such an applet, http://www.jeroenwijering.com/?item=Flash_FLV_Player
