Exchange OWA - WMA embedded Windows Media Player
CoachBill 29.05.2007 23:46:00
According the the Exchange 2007 Unified Messaging documentation, new Outlook
Web Access offers the user a Windows Media Player that is embedded in the
e-mail message that can be used to listen to voice messages and enables them
to access other features such as Play on Phone.
Does this work w/o an install of Windows Media Player for Mac, Flip4MAC or
QuickTime?

I've never had a chance to try, but I seriously doubt it.
I suspect that you'll need either the FLip4Mac codecs or Silverlight
(just forget about WMP9 - it's dead and even before being dead it was
quite ill).

I found the following on Jim McBee's blog.

Attachment shows up as a WMA file that the user can open and listen.

THe last comment makes me thik that on the Mac you;ll get the same
thing as on FireFox for WIndows. The audio will show up as a linlk to a
wma file.
If you have Flip4Mac installed you'll be able to play the file with
the standard QuickTime controls.
I suspect that the more-elaborate-looking player they have on IE
relies on a bunch of ActiveX :-\
