Installing Media Player 9 rdwest 15.04.2007 20:54:00 I Cannot open the installer, because I get asked for identity and password. None of my usual ones work! Help!?

I'm not sure I am following you. If the installer asks you for a login and password, you are supposed to use an admin login and the corresponding password for an account on your Mac (yours??). It's the same as what you;d get with most other apps that are installed through an installer. Did you consider installing the Flip4Mac WMV codecs instead??? Do you have to PAY to upgrade to the premium service to play multiple songs or a playlist? Is there any alternative to the .wma songs I've downloaded with a license to play on my iMAC? Flip4Mac inactivates the WMP plug-ins when you install it (and rightfully so, otherwise you end up with a conflict). MS didn't licence the technology to them. WMP can only play content with DRM up to 1.3 - which you virtually cannot find anywhere anymore. MS doesn't offer us, Mac users, any way to play DRM 7 or DRM 9 files (except maybe under Parallels, but that's a different story altogether).
