Whenever I try to enable media sharing by going
Library -> Media Sharing... -> Share my Media
I check the box and click OK, it pauses for a couple of seconds, and then the OK button gets lit back up and nothing happens. It doesn't display the list of devices or anything.
I checked to see if the Windows Media Network Sharing Service was started, and it was not. I tried to start it and it said a dependencies group would not start, so I tried starting the Universal Plug and Play Device Host Service and it said:
"The Universal Plug and Play Device Host Service on Local Computer started and then stopped. Some services stop automatically if they have no work to do...."
How can I fix this so media sharing works in WMP11? I'm running XP SP2

Please Help!!
I recently purchased the Yamaha RX-V2700 am I am NOT able to connect to my PC to listen to my shared music. I have read a bunch of previous posts, and like them, I CAN listen to the Internet Radio Stations thru the RX-V2700, but I can''t share my music from Windows Media Player 11.
Under the Toos-Library-Configure Sharing option, I have check box for "Share my Media", but it goes grey for ~ 30 seconds, then nothing happens.
I called Yamaha, and they said it was a Microsoft problem. I chatted with Microsoft, and they said it was a Hewlet Packard problem. Then I chatted with HP,and they said it was a Yamaha problem!!!!!
PLEASE HELP ME SOMEONE, PLEASE........
Thanks in advance, Tim

This is clearly a Microsoft problem, since this appears on two laptops I own - one Lenovo/IBM and one Dell. Both have exactly the same symptoms. There are also a bunch of posts out there describing the same situation with other hardware.
In any case, if the sharing is not going to work, Windows Media Player should produce an error message. The problem is that it is impossible to get UPNP services started. The only advice I have seen so far is to do a complete Windows re-install!
So COME ON MICROSOFT, READ YOUR OWN NEWSGROUPS AND ADDRESS THIS ISSUE!

I just installed a Yamaha RX-V2700, and I can get to internet stations ok. When I tried the media player sharing with MP 11, I saw none of my MP3s. I store my music on a Maxtor network hard drive with a drive mapping of P: - When I copied some of the files to the local drive (under c:\documents and setting\all users\shared music - for example) Then the Yamaha could see and play them. I do have my music locations shared (both the local default and P:\music)
I have asked Yamaha if this was a firmware issue on the V2700 since it supports media connect v2.0. Have not heard anything back yet.
I will check putting some MP3s on my second partition (D:) and see if that works. I will also try another computer on my network to see if that works.
