My sound stopped working under windows XP SP2. I have a gigabyte
GA-8S661FXM-775 motherboard with Realtek AC97 on board sound. I have
reinstalled motherboard drivers as well as latest Realtek drivers to no
avail. Sounds and Audio devices show everything greyed out, no audio devices
installed. I have found that the Windows Audio Service under services in
Administrative tools does not even appear let alone not starting. Can
anybody shed any light on the problem.
