Media Player update and library
swroberts 28.06.2007 14:40:02
Yesterday I updated my Windows Media Player and when I did I lost all but
three of my files that were in my media library. They are still on the
computer where I ripped them and I have tried to add them to the library
through WMP but the system does not pick them up. The only thing that works
at this point is rolling back to the previous version but I really like WMP
11. What should I do?

You probably know where on your PC your media files are stored.

In media player, press F3 button on the keyboard to bring up the
search for media files dialog. Click Advanced, and add the folders to
the search where your media is stored - by default WMP only monitors
My Music and My Videos, your content might be stored in (for example)
C:\Video or whereever.

I already tried that. Does not answer the problem as I stated in my question.

Having exactly the same problem. My playlists became non- functionable, then
my play counts disappeared and so eventually did my library. No response when
trying to add files to the library. Playlists work if you drag them into the
list pane. Glad i'm not the only one with this problem.

I am the original poster. I wanted help on how to reset my library. I am a
novice to all this so I am not sure how to do that. Any help you can provide
would be great!

Doesn't my link cover resetting your library? I try not to type too much so
as to avoid problems with carpal tunnel syndrome. My hands are my
livelihood. =)

I don't know if resetting the library is what you want based upon your later
problem description, though.
