How to ingest url source?
chris 09.07.2007 21:34:17
Hi.

I want to ingest remote url for transcoding.
But I couldn't find any method to enable this in the windows media document.

Is there any method to do this?

Regards,

Chris

Which windows media document do you mean ? Which remote URL are you
discussing, and why are you trying to transcode it ?

Please do not assume that it's obvious to others not sitting at your
desk what you're asking, because it's completely opaque ;-)

Thanks for the answer, Neil.
Ok, let me explain in detail.
I'd like to ingest mms url source for transcoding to another wmv stream.
This use case can look strange but people want strange thing sometimes.
I know it may be possible using directshow and windows media encoder sdk.
But I want to know if there is a way to enable this using built-in products
such as wmencoder something like that.

Thanks,

Chris

Windows media encoder has no features which permit connecting to mms
or other network sources (apart from a few camera drivers for Axis
network cameras). You should ignore WME in subsequent discussions.

WMF SDK may have some netwok stream reading stuff,
http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa385737.aspx

But again you've not explained what you're trying to "ingest" this
stream data into, or do with - so it's still not really possible to
give specific examples without a specific use-case !
