Blue Screen way too often
PlowKing 12.07.2007 23:44:00
I have seen many posts on the BSOD but I haven't seen any reference to the
same error messages I'm getting. To preface I have a Gateway laptop
preloaded with Vista Home Premium AMD Turion 64 X 2 Mobile Tech, 512KB X 2 L2
cache, 1.6GHz, 1024MB DDR2 memory, wireless card and if anything is necessary
I can add to it. I get a BSOD at least 2X's a week. I have tried to update
everything, everything is up to date it says. I have tried to update
drivers, nothing needs updating. So here is the error message I get.
Hopefully someone can help me, or direct me to help. I am not paying
Microsoft to help me troubleshoot this problem. Here goes...

Problem: Blue Screen
OS Version: 6.0.6000.2.0.0.768.3
Locale ID: 1033

BC Code: D1
BCP1: 00003885
BCP2: 00000002
BCP3: 00000000
OSVersion: 6_0_6000
Service Pack 0_0
Product: 768_1

I really would appreciate anything anyone can tell me related to this
problem. Thanks in advance.

Jason

If this is a new computer, TAKE IT BACK for warranty repair or replacement.
A new system should not be behaving so.

I probably bought it in April from Best Buy (don't have my receipt handy) and
I know the typical BS they feed that I should have bought the service
contract and it would be covered, instead it has to be sent out for
inspection.

Hi,

0xD1 is usually a driver error. If it's behaved like this since you got it,
the manufacturer should be contacted for warranty support. If it started at
some point afterward, look to software and hardware that you have added to
it (software like antivirus software commonly uses device drivers as well).
A dump file, if it's being created, may be able to provice additional clues.

I have seen a lot of references to the dump files. How do I find and/or
access them?

Hi,

Control Panel\System\Advanced system settings under the advanced tab/startup
and recovery will tell you the type of dump and location of the file
(usually C:\Windows\memory.dmp). See this on how to read the files:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/931370 or you can send the file to me and
I'll look at it for you. Use the email addy used here, and a subject line of
'per req' to get past filters.
