In Control Panel > Device Manager, what is your audio adapter under Sound, video
and game controllers?

Have you downloaded and installed the latest audio adapter drivers from the
manufacturer?

Hi Cal Bear 66

My audio adapter is Realtek High Definition Audio

I right clicked and and then selected "Update driver software" via the
internet. It responded that the drivers are up to date.

cheers

You should go to Realtek and download the latest drivers (ver. 1.70) from here:

http://www.realtek.com.tw/downloads/downloadsView.aspx?Langid=1&PNid=24&PFid=24&Level=4&Conn=3&DownTypeID=3&GetDown=false#High%20Definition%20Audio%20Codecs

Before you install these drivers, you should remove the Realtek HD Audio Adapter
in Device Manager (and check delete files, IF offered) and in Control Panel >
Programs and Features, uninstall the Realtek Sound Manager, reboot and then
install the above drivers.

Mr. Sparkle 11.07.2007 12:28:02
Im using speakers and i have disabled the digital output. I did disable the
enhancements too.

Not sure what you mean about "Default Format" couldnt find anyting with
that on it.

however i know that the output is speakers. Perhaps this is an
incompatibility with Realtek and WMP 11??

Definitely NOT an incompatibility with WMP 11 -- I have Realtek at it works
great

On the A D V A N C E D T-A-B (4th of 4 TABS) , the first item is the Default
Format (with a test button)

Re: WMP 11 play speed settings crackling
Mr. Sparkle 12.07.2007 10:48:01
Ah i see, my mistake i should learn to read!!

It was set to the absolute maximum 24bit 192000 hz so i changed it to 16bit
44100 hz (CD quality)

But im sad to say it still has the crackles and pops of a vinyl record.

I wonder if it has anything to do with the kind of speakers i have
connected? They are not brand name speakers , however they do give very good
sound.

The only other thing I can think of is possibly a flaky/loose connection?

The Realtek audio adapter on this computer is performing very well.
