Unable to use connect computer on client
"Homer Jay" <someoneelse[ at ]microsoft.com> 10.07.2007 15:27:21
I posted a similar thread a few days ago, but this group moves pretty fast
and so it may have been lost already........... basically I am unable to use
the http://myserver/connectcomputer as I get an error of "The list of users
and computers cannot be found" short of re-installing SBS I am not sure what
to try. If I manually add the client I can view and manage it from the
server, I can view network computers etc, but I can't access RWW and believe
I need to use the connectcomputer wizard to do so. The ipconfig from server
and workstation are below:

Server IPConfig:

Windows IP Configuration
Host Name . . . . . . . . . . . . : MAIN
Primary Dns Suffix . . . . . . . : MAIN.local
Node Type . . . . . . . . . . . . : Unknown
IP Routing Enabled. . . . . . . . : Yes
WINS Proxy Enabled. . . . . . . . : Yes
DNS Suffix Search List. . . . . . : MAIN.local

Ethernet adapter Server Local Area Connection:
Connection-specific DNS Suffix . :
Description . . . . . . . . . . . : Broadcom NetXtreme Gigabit Ethernet
Physical Address. . . . . . . . . : 00-15-C5-5F-51-7A
DHCP Enabled. . . . . . . . . . . : No
IP Address. . . . . . . . . . . . : 192.168.0.1
Subnet Mask . . . . . . . . . . . : 255.255.255.0
Default Gateway . . . . . . . . . : 192.168.0.4
DNS Servers . . . . . . . . . . . : 192.168.0.1
Primary WINS Server . . . . . . . : 192.168.0.1

Workstation IPConfig:

Windows IP Configuration
Host Name . . . . . . . . . . . . : BAI001
Primary Dns Suffix . . . . . . . : MAIN.local
Node Type . . . . . . . . . . . . : Hybrid
IP Routing Enabled. . . . . . . . : No
WINS Proxy Enabled. . . . . . . . : No
DNS Suffix Search List. . . . . . : MAIN.local
MAIN.local

Ethernet adapter Server Local Area Connection:
Connection-specific DNS Suffix . : MAIN.local
Description . . . . . . . . . . . : NVIDIA NForce Networking Controller
Physical Address. . . . . . . . . : 00-16-17-27-9C-50
DHCP Enabled. . . . . . . . . . . : Yes
Autoconfiguration Enabled. . . .: Yes
IP Address. . . . . . . . . . . . : 192.168.0.12
Subnet Mask . . . . . . . . . . . : 255.255.255.0
Default Gateway . . . . . . . . . : 192.168.0.4
DHCP Server . . . . . . . . . . . .: 192.168.0.1
DNS Servers . . . . . . . . . . . : 192.168.0.1
Primary WINS Server . . . . . . . : 192.168.0.1

I am no sure what to try as I believe I have everything correct here. But
would not be surprised to learn something is clearly wrong.

Thanks.

On the workstation make sure DNS -ONLY- points to the SBServer internal NIC
( No Secondary DNS )

Flush the DNS:
IPconfig /flushdns
IPconfig /registerdns

Done, followed all the steps and still no joy. Having a friend take a look
this weekend, if still no luck plan to re-install SBS.
