CEICW Fails
Joaquim Oliveira 29.05.2007 21:03:02
Hello,

I want to change from ISP and I run SBS 2003 R2 with ISA 2006 with no
problem at all.

Now to migrate and reduce chances of failure I've configured the new ADSL
router with same configuration of the old one. I still have my old and new
ADSL operational so I can run the tests to see if this is a Server issue or
ISP issue.

The only thing I really need to change in the CEICW is the Primary and
Secondary ISP DNS Server entries but when I try to do that the wizard fails
in the first step of the wizard.

Sniffing the logs:

29-05-2007 21:29
C:\Programas\Microsoft Windows Small Business
Server\Networking\ICW\wizinet.dll, version 5.2.2893.0
calling CNetCommit::ValidatePropertyBag ().
Call to Querying for the property bag () returned ok.
Call to Reading hardware selection () returned ok.
Hardware selection: 0
Call to Validating hardware selection () returned ok.
Error 0xc00403ca returned from call to Initializing the Stingray util in
ValidateNICProperties().
Error 0xc00403ca returned from call to Validating NIC properties().

Many people said that ISA 2006 and SBS 2003 R2 dont have a peacefull
coexistence but as I said till now everything works fine and if I switch to
the old ADSL I have no problems. I really need the new one working to get rid
of the old one.

Any help would be appreciated.

Kind Regards and Thanks in advance

Maybe the coexistance with ISA 2006 is not so good after all. That's not a
supported configuration by Microsoft and may be why the CEICW is failing.

Hi Joaquim,

Thanks for posting in our newsgroup and also for Steven's input.

From your description, I know that you installed ISA 2006 on SBS 2003 and
cannot run the CEICW wizard. If I am off-base, please don't hesitate to let
me know.

Currently we do not support installing ISA 2006 on SBS 2003. You can
uninstall ISA 2006. We can only use ISA 2004 from the R2 disc. Thanks for
your understanding.

For more information, please refer to:

RE: CEICW Fails
Joaquim Oliveira 30.05.2007 08:41:01
Well,

My real problem here is not CEICW. Failure of CEICW is a consequence of a
changee I must do. I can live without it with no problem at all. The real
problem is how to replace the CEICW input of the Primary and Secondary DNS
servers manually since that is the only change I will made. There must be
some way to do that directly in the registry or something because every thing
else will stay the same.

Thanks

You can go into the DNS server on the SBS box and click on forwarders
You'll see them there

Again....you are in a completely unsupported configuration

By that you mean to edit DNS entries in the DNS Console.

Is it possible for you to be a little bit more specific?

It concerns me a bit that you'd put ISA 2006 on your server which is
unsupported on SBS 2003 and don't know how to get to the basics.

Re: CEICW Fails
Joaquim Oliveira 28.06.2007 08:30:01
Rest assured that I know the basics. Just that I'm not familiar with some
expressions.

"DNS server on the SBS box" -> I had a doubt about some kind of SBS
Administrative console or the DNS MMC so I asked further.

Anyway: It worked like a treat and the thing is working very fine indeed.

What really worries me is the lack of some warning message during the ISA
2006 Installation in SBS 2003R2. Like I said I did not encounter any error
and things worked fine till this very little problem arrived.

Like I said all is up and running now.

Thanks
