Strange SMTP mail not sending problem
"John" <John[ at ]nospam.infovis.co.uk> 05.07.2007 14:36:26
Hi

We have a strange problem from two days whereby email just gets stuck in
smtp queue of the exchange server. There does not seem to be any significant
event in the log and ICW runs and finish fine too. I have telnet the remote
smtp server on port 25 and that is fine too. How can I proceed from here in
trying to fix this? The system is an SBS 2003 premium with ISA 2000 and SBS
SP1 standard applied.

Thanks

Regards

how is your SMTP connector configured: 'use DNS' or 'use SmartHost'?

if 'SmartHost', has something changed on the smart host (ISP) end I had an
issue last month on my own server where the ISP had move my account to a
different server, and I had used an IP address to define the SmartHost.
Problem was, when they moved me to a new server, the IP address changed.

But this could also be caused by your acocunt's password changing on the ISP
side as well.

Just a thought!

Hi Kevin

It seems like windows services are fighting between themselves. The prove is
that when I ran windows update and as a result some services were stopped
the emails started to go out. I haven't yet figured out which services are
causing problem and how to fix it. I used msconfig to stop all non-MS
services and that did not help so it seems to be MS services that are
problem.

Thanks

Regards
