Faxing issues on Microsoft fax console
Zerocool242007 <Zerocool242007.2supff[ at ]DoNotSpam.com> 27.06.2007 18:56:59
Hello I am in some need of help I am using Microsoft Fax Console on Windows 2003 server the fax modem I am using is A Brooktroute Truefax 100. Everything faxes out fine but I am getting allot company’s faxing them back or emailing us saying that they can not read them. What it will do is cut half of the text or smashes the text in different places on the fax. I forgot to mention that are fax uses a t1 channel to fax out on the phone line we do not have it hooked up to a dedicated fax line. I can send a demonstration of a fax to some one if that would help. I have contacted brooktrout and they say it is fax console or disturbance in the line. So if any one could or need more info please let me know. Thanks For your time -- Zerocool242007 ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Zerocool242007's Profile: http://forums.techarena.in/member.php?userid=25903 View this thread: http://forums.techarena.in/showthread.php?t=773903 http://forums.techarena.in

Is your T1 channel a PRI or CAS signal?

In your original post you said it's a T1 channel. So are you now saying that
it is a straight stand-alone POTS line?

I'd go back to Brooktrout and ask them to prove that it's "fax console
or disturbance in the line". These sorts of bland statements are
meaningless without transaction logs to identify the exact cause of
your problems. If you can get detailed logs then you have some chance
of resolving the issues.

Well I contacted our phone company that set that up. What they told me is that it hookes up to our T1 on a channel I asked them so is it a PRI or a CAS then he said you should have no problem faxing out on it. so I don't think he knew. I know it is not the card now cause we allso use winfax and that uses another system and we get the same problem. -- Zerocool242007 ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Zerocool242007's Profile: http://forums.techarena.in/member.php?userid=25903 View this thread: http://forums.techarena.in/showthread.php?t=773903 http://forums.techarena.in

What you probably have is one of these combined services over T1. Some
vendors call it "FlexOption". They grab a few channels off the T1 and run
internally (vendor network) some kind of VoIP solution. Even though it looks
to the customer like any old POTS line, it is not because the vendor handles
it internally like VoIP and then hands it off on their edge router into the
public phone system. We had lots of problems with those setups when it comes
to fax functionality and we have basically moved away from it and run the
fax capability for clients off a standard stand-alone POTS service.

Try sending/receiving 100 fax's with a modern fax machine (something
that support V.34 SuperG3). If this works then you know the problem
is with your fax modem and/or fax software. If it doesn't work then
ask your Telco how they are provisioning your fax line... if it's some
sort of VoIP solution as suggested by Claus then you will never get it
working with fax. The only solution is to have the Telco provide the
fax line via an ATA without using IP.
