Webpart Calendar suddenly quit working.
Paul Wolfson 26.06.2007 21:13:02
A calendar on SBS 2003 Sharepoint that has been working for months suddenly
quit with the error message: "Web parts and Web Part Zone controls must live
in a runat='server' HtmlForm'.

I'm no expert on even basic Sharepoint Programming. The calendar was
generated by cloning the Vacation Calendar in the default settings. Now that
it is broken, I need some help trying to define and fix the problem.

Thanks,
Paul
SBS 2003 Webpart Calendar suddenly quit working. Need to restore!
Paul Wolfson 27.06.2007 06:04:00
A scheduling calendar was created using another instance of the default
Vacation Calendar in Sharepoint.

It stopped working with the Web parts ... runat='server' HtmlForm error
instead of the calendar.

Facts:

1. The original Vacation Calendar and a test calendar instance work.
2. Running SCA.exe (Sharepoint Configuration Analyzer) shows that the
Calendar exists in WebPart type:
Microsoft.Sharepoint.WebPartPages.ListViewWebPart(75) as ...Lists/Vacation
Calendar/calendar.aspx.
3. The server is running SQL Desktop MSDE not SQL Server.
4. Full nightly backups exist of the server.

Questions:

1. Is this an IIS permission error that can be corrected?
2. If not, can the database contents of the calendar be retrieved or
restored?
3. If it cannot be restored, can the MSDE database table be dumped so the
data can be manually reentered?

Thanks in Advance

Hello Paul,

Thank you for posting here.

From the post, I understand a calendar on SBS 2003 Sharepoint does not work
with error message. The calendar was generated by cloning the Vacation
Calendar.

This is a part of sharepoint error. As you know, in SBS newsgroup, we only
support companyweb installation issue. For the sharepoint configuration and
settings issue, please repost your issue in WSS newsgroup for further
assistance.

This newsgroup is primarily for issues involving deployment, configuration,
consultation and troubleshooting. The reason why we recommend posting
appropriately is you will get the most qualified pool of respondents, and
other partners who read the newsgroups regularly can either share their
knowledge or learn from your interaction with us.

WSS Newsgroup:
http://www.microsoft.com/technet/community/newsgroups/dgbrowser/en-us/defaul
t.mspx?dg=microsoft.public.sharepoint.design_and_customization

Thank you for your understanding.

If there is anything else I can do for you, feel free to let me know.

Thanks and have a nice day!

Best regards,

Terence Liu(MSFT)

Thank you again for your help. Actually I was unaware of the distinction
between this newsgroup and WSS. I will repost the question there.

RE: Webpart Calendar suddenly quit working.
Paul Wolfson 27.06.2007 14:00:03
Let me ask the question a little differently. I have nightly full system
backups. Mostly this is a rolling backup of the shared and common files this
lawfirm uses daily which are in a known place.

Without trying a blind restore of - everything - what do I need to restore
in an attempt to fix the calendar.aspx failure? I need the database table(s)
from MSDE bound to this or a new instance of calendar.aspx. I know this
involves stsadmin, but I've not worked with the tool before. Any guidance?

If this is the wrong newsgroup to post this, where would you suggest, WSS?

Hello Paul,

Thank you for kind update.

If you want to restore a single file (calendar.aspx) to your system, you
can:

a. Run the "ntbackup" command on SBS, to open NTbackup Utility,

b. Select restore and Manage Media tab,

c. Select the backup include the file you want to restore in, in the
Restore files to box, select Single folder, browse a folder to store the
restore file

d. Click Start Restore

e. After restore finish, locate on the alternate folder, find the single
file, copy and overwrite the corrupted one.

| Let me ask the question a little differently. I have nightly full system
| backups. Mostly this is a rolling backup of the shared and common files
this
| lawfirm uses daily which are in a known place.
|
| Without trying a blind restore of - everything - what do I need to
restore
| in an attempt to fix the calendar.aspx failure? I need the database
table(s)
| from MSDE bound to this or a new instance of calendar.aspx. I know this
| involves stsadmin, but I've not worked with the tool before. Any
guidance?
|
| If this is the wrong newsgroup to post this, where would you suggest, WSS?
